Maus asked in the comments whether or not Bob could be done mostly in the round (she and Cleo have been in cahoots).

I had actually intended to do the whole thing in the round but I couldn’t get the arms to attach “cleanly”, without a little hole on each side. It of course can be done, as EZ would say, anything can be done, but the rib pattern on the sleeves will need to adjusted. It was designed so that when you sew it to the body, the pattern matches up.

The way I tried to do it initially was to knit up to where the raglan arm decreases begin and the sleeves to the same place, also in the round. K2tog about 12 sts, one each from the arm and the body, and then begin again in the round. I never followed this thorugh because of the holes I was getting, but to adjust the pattern to account the for the selvage sts, I would dec 1 from each side of the sleeve here. Then sew together the little holes that are created when the fabric pulls at the arm creases.

Maybe I’ll work on it and post an update…? We’ll see.

In other news, Rowan #34 is on it’s way and all the designs are up for preview at Colourway. There are also several new lines of yarn and complimentary books. Keep ‘um comin’!

I’m off for vacation for the next week so please forgive me if I don’t answer emails. Also, I’ve been spending most of my time trying to dump this site into Movable Type, so that’s the reason for the lack of posts. Back to normal soon!
