Bob is in Las Vegas

Bob is in Las Vegas on business all week. This is what my evenings consist of. Yes, that’s a jelly donut and a glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. And my soon to be finished felted sweater. Yum.

Is that the sweater out of Erika Knight’s Comfort of Home book? I bought that book and immediately Rowan Chunky Soft was discontinued. So I was a wee frustrated, so what yarn are you using?

I got my first bag of the Chunky Soft on eBay and then scambled around trying to find any more that was left so I could make this sweater. I think I bought the last few balls in existance; from http://www.englishyarns.co.uk. I’ve been looking for a good replacement, something similar because I love this yarn, but I haven’t really found anything yet.

At least now you know to be extra careful in washing and handling! I’m sure it will last you until you come up with a new favorite!! You are so ambitious! I’ll bet you are enjoying it right now as I type! Happy Friday!

How weird is this…just got the Knitter’s Review newsletter reviewing a new felted wool, Merino frappe put out by Crystal Palace yarns…
I’ll have to see if the Yarn Garden carries it.

"Several years ago, Rowan came out with a wonderful felted yarn called Chunky Soft. Unfortunately, it didn’t last long, both in terms of availability and wearability.

Over time, my beautiful sweater looked more and more like an old, matted horse blanket. Just as quickly as the yarn appeared on the market, it was gone.

Merino Frappe takes up where Chunky Soft left off. Yes, it will take only a certain level of abuse before you’ll throw up your hands in despair. But it’s softer, available in far more colors than Rowan ever provided, and significantly less expensive."

Oh my god. That’s terrible. I mean wonderful that there is a better replacement - yeah! But terrible as I’m just sewing up my horse blanket now. Oh, that’s not funny. :|
