Knitting in the News

What are other people saying about this craft we all love?

KnitNet.com Misses the Mark

I didn’t appreciate the article from KnitNet on Learning to Knit Online where it’s inferred that the average knitting enthusiast “doleing” out personal advice is a “fool” or a “bozo”, as I would never be so arrogant to call another knitter either. Bozo? Really, who wrote that?

However, the video instructions that are offered on their site for casting on, knitting and purling are actually fantastic tools for learning how to knit.

Stitch n Bitch at My House

Sunday was so fun. Having so many knitters in the house was thrilling - I think my head really did spin. Literally. I’m looking forward to the next meeting when I can sit and talk more as I’ve found that I don’t have Martha’s cool head when it comes to hostessing. :)

It was wonderful to meet these women and I was overwhelmed at their generousity. The varied expertise was exciting, too. No matter the question, there was someone that knew the answer or had a theory and everything was shared with such enthusiam. It really opened my eyes to how much more there is to learn and explore in the world of knitting.

Wine, cheese, and knitting - what could be better?

Eva and I are having all the Stitch n Bitch women over on Sunday for a wine, cheese, and knitting party - I’m so excited! If everyone that has RSVP’d comes, we will have over 15 knitters all in the same room at once! The knitting karma will be fantastic. We are rearranging the livingroom some to add more seating. Maybe the weather will be nice and we can sit on the deck - that would be cool. Yes, let’s hope for that.

I’ve frightened Bob into thinking that we’re going to make him learn how to knit, poor darling. He doesn’t think it would be good for his manhood. I’ve tried to explain to him that some of the best knit designers are men - Kaffe Fasset, Brandon Mably, etc. C’est la vie.

I can barwe tawk wif dis fat wip - and Oct 27 meeting

I woke up with a fat lip this morning - just on one side - perfect. I don’t know what happened. I think however the massive swelling is finally starting to subside, just in time for my 11:30 meeting so I don’t have to explain my boxer-face.

In knitting news…

…I’m still under the Christmas gag order (Mom, Dad, Laura, close your eyes and don’t open them until this paragraph is over!). It’s actually brought another dimension into my knitting - panic. I’m never going to finish everything I wanted to. Looks like some people are just getting CDs this year.

In community news, Eva and I got to meet Shetha last night at the coffee house in Powells. It was a very enjoyable evening, chatting and sipping coffee. Knitting in public is fun. I’m hoping that we can generate enough excitement about the Oct. 27 meeting that we’ll have a big turn-out. Eva and I were thinking about offering our house for the meeting and throwing a wine tasting party at the same time…?
