Gauging the Fuzzy Foot

Because I’m using a different yarn I’m having trouble meeting the gauge of the fuzzy feet. One strand is too thin regardless of needle size and 2 strands feels too thick at the gauge. So I’m pretesting the felting on a swatch but the going is slow because our front loading washer doens’t provide very much aggitation even with a pair of jeans. This is the result the first go around.

On another odd note, some of your comments have mysteriously disappeared - from the last few days. Very strange and a bummer.

Interlacements Yarns - ‘Oregon Worsted’

I should have mentioned, in my excitement about my new yarn, that it’s made by Interlacements Yarns and it’s called “Oregon Worsted”. It’s a giant 14 ounce skein with 685 yards of 100% wool. Ridiculously affordable when compared to other painted yarns - $26 (which works out to $3.25 per 50g!) I believe this will be my next purchase…

So today is February 4th! and I’m starting my fuzzy feet tonight. I’ve had a terrible time since Christmas finishing anything - I have at least 5 different things going right now. I think it was the post-Christmas freedom to do anything. However, I’m going to be very strick with myself that I not start another project (after the fuzzy feet tonight) before I finish and post the WIPs I have going. Period. Really, I’m sticking to it…

My first experience with Handpainted yarn

Oh Oh, pardon my excitement but isn’t it pretty?!? This is my first experience with handpainted yarn and I just had to document it. I didn’t realize the colors would mix together so fluidly (I just started balling it up). I can’t wait to see it knitted….
(and for those of you who have noticed that it’s 9:30 on a Saturday night and think I’m weird, whatever, I’m knitting and it’s fun.)

Giant Fuzzy Feet Felt Along - my yarn of choice

I made a wonderful find today with this yarn for the Giant Fuzzy Feet Felt Along. The picture really doesn’t do the colors justice. I’m very excited. It’s a chunk of yarn, 685 yds in fact, so I’m going to use whatever is left and make a felted bag. Oh, wow, I’ll be in such swanky style - my shoes will match my bag!
