This was the first sweater I ever made. It was a wonderful learning exercise because it has straight st st for the first several inches so I could get used to the needles and yarn. It was made for my boyfriend (now husband), Bob.

The first sweater I ever made

I finally got Bob to give back the first sweater I made so I could photograph it.

Though it looks a little complicated, this was actually a really good sweater to learn with. The bottom half is stockinette stitch so I got used to the yarn and the tension and then the top half is a great sampler of cables and bobbles so I really learned how cables worked. And I learned that it’s not that hard to memorize a textured pattern once you understand the stitches.

In other news, a beautiful bouquet of flowers has just been delivered to my desk … from Bob? Yes, such a darling man! Thanks Babe!
