I have neglected the blog this past week - so busy with work, ugh! However, to catch up on the latest big news….
patternworks.com buys eKnitting.com!
I dropped in at the eKnitting storefront … (I say “dropped in” because it would take too long to explain that I was led astray by MapQuest by 4 blocks the wrong direction, stopped at 5 broken parking meters, and walked 15 blocks out of the way - oh look, there, I’ve said it)…anyhow, I dropped in at the eKnitting store on August 31 (that’s a Saturday) to find the shop closed with no explanation other than a shoddy sign that said “Welc me to eK ittin .com”, hours for Saturday 10AM to 5PM. It was 2 in the afternoon.
Looking inside, everything looked in disarray and I began to think that the fantastic web site that had so greatly contributed to my knitting obsession, was a just a facade, not a representation of the dream store I had made it out to be. Needless to say, and as you can tell from my sarcasm, I was pretty bummed (and very hot and tired from the urban trek).
All of this being said I got an email last Thursday saying that eKnitting.com was merging with Patternworks.com and changing locations. Although the news came too late for me to avoid the agony of downtown Berkley in 170 degree weather, I am relieved to see that the mishap was not born of complete negligence.
