I am just working up the nerve to try my hand at design, but I get most of my inspiration from the plethora of free patterns found at knittingpatterncentral.com

I like to get knitting patterns from a host of different sources but I very much enjoy The Phildar Yarn Shop, particularly since they created the English version of their online yarn shop (www.phildar.com) I don't know who does their designs but they've got a great team that is right on with the latest looks. Great yarns, too. For instance, I knit a sweater in a cotton yarn that starts our dark blue and gradually fades to light. A hot look in that yarn! Although I've been knitting for years they also have great looking patterns for new knitters as well as fabulous knitting kits.

I use Jo Sharp patterns as I have had some success with them before. I just keep using her patterns because I am too scared to even try another designer. It feels as though I have fluked it every time I finish a garment so I don't wish to tempt fate.

Books, books, books!

I have a terrific library and the local Machine Knitters Guild funds them quite well. We get the latest stuff - but at a time delay.
