The first sweater I ever made

I finally got Bob to give back the first sweater I made so I could photograph it.

Though it looks a little complicated, this was actually a really good sweater to learn with. The bottom half is stockinette stitch so I got used to the yarn and the tension and then the top half is a great sampler of cables and bobbles so I really learned how cables worked. And I learned that it’s not that hard to memorize a textured pattern once you understand the stitches.

In other news, a beautiful bouquet of flowers has just been delivered to my desk … from Bob? Yes, such a darling man! Thanks Babe!

Jamie - That sweater is GORGEOUS!
I’ve got the river grass gansey (from Jamieson’s #2) on my to-do list, but now that I’ve seen this one… You did a beautiful job.

I’ve also been wondering about Cascade 220 - there are so many great colors. It looks like it shows great stitch definition. Did you like working with it?

I can’t wait to see what your next project is!

And…thanks for highlighting my site. You’ve got me listed with some other sites that I really admire.

    :-)

Hey girl! Wow, that sweater is so beautiful….you have such talent. Wondering how you’re doing and what you’re up to. How nice of Bob to send you flowers; what a good man! How did things go with the Vancouver thing. Write soon.

Thanks Mary! I do like the Cascade 220. It’s a very good work-horse wool, but also very good quality. For this sweater, I wish that I had used the cotton the pattern called for because the wool is a little too stiff where for the fabric changes from stockinette stitch to cables - it doesn’t have the right drape on the arms.
