I don’t seem to be having as much fun with knitting as I used to

I can’t seem to find anything that holds my interest. I knitted Bonne Marie’s bucket hat this weekend - it went very fast. I think I’m going to rip out the brim and do it over in moss stitch because no amount of steaming blocking pinning or ironing has been able to tame the roll of the stockinette stitch alpaca it’s made of. I still have one more giant sock to go on my fuzzy feet but everytime I look at it, I think of black hands (from the yarn) and I’m put off. Bob’s felted clogs just need the last outer sole sewn up and then they are ready for the wash, but I just can’t get myself to focus on it.

What is going on? Is it the late winter doldrums? Bob and I are headed to the coast this weekend and I’m looking forward to the long drive and the knitting that always goes along with that; I just need to find an interesting project to take…

Mid -winter ,creative over-load blues. Simple solution = spend too much money on an extravagant and totally gorgeous new project.
I’d go Colinette … but that’s just my taste ,and I live in the U.K. ,where it’s cheaper ! The new Giotto ribbon looks delicious !

hey jamie! i feel exactly the same way. but that’s because i don’t have the money to spend on a bunch of yarn right now. i do have things picked out that i want to make though. i’m also forcing myself to finish a pillow and a pair of socks before i do anything else. have fun at the coast!

Hi Jamie! Aren’t we all in a frumpy mood??? Switch gears! Buy a handful of Knitting mags for the trip! You are bound to find something of interest for when you return! Or just crochet or knit some coasters for Xmas Presents to keep busy! ( I add them to tops of wrapped presents ) Right now I am crocheting red hearts coasters… mindless but busy! :) Enjoy the trip!

just returned from the coast, it was a bit rainy this week, but still soothing. hope it helps your mood. i’ve got super curly edged alpaca going on too in a vest, which i hope will be cured by the seed stitch edge to be added. sometimes the goodwill bin is the best place for projects that aren’t going to work, i wouldn’t care for black hands either. on my last visit to nw wools there was a pattern for short rows jacket made up behind the counter in silk garden. silk garden i think would put you back in knitting spirit .

Even Wendy (knitter extraordinaire) was having a little bit of knitting doldrums this week– so you are in good company!

Thanks everyone! Your advice has been perfect. My "extravagant and totally gorgeous new project" is going to be a Noro Silk Garden kit I just bought on eBay. I just can’t wait until it gets here!
