Knitty’s Winter Issue is out!

Wonderful issue people, with Melissa from Portland on the cover modeling her gorgeous red sweater with stripes (knitted from Rowan Cork, by the way, yum)! I haven’t had time to absorb everything yet, but there are several very unique patterns (a capella, wrist warmers, nose warmers - the latter compliments of Amy, Knitty editor) and a couple good standards (like felted slippers and beautiful socks). The articles full of how-to tips have me the most interested in this issue - probably because I’m needing a few of them. For example:

How many of you take the time to block your sweaters - is it a necessity? I have a Rowan wool/cotton number with intarsia that I’m wondering if I should block before I sew it up next week…

I usually do block, especially if it’s in stockinette and the edges are a bit curled. I think it really helps with the sewing. In fact, I used to hate, hate, hate sewing things up and now I can’t quite understand why anymore.

I agree with Alison. I’d say blocking is a must.

I did block (with steam) and will post picture of the difference after Christmas - it made a HUGE difference. Also, if anyone else is interested, here is a good article on blocking.
