Mr. Rogers

NPR just played a clip of Mr. Rogers talking and I suddenly found myself with tears in my eyes. The last few weeks, dealing with nasty old women at work, nasty old women at the yarn shop, and nasty people in general, I just want to curl up on the couch under a blanket and listen to Mr. Rogers councel me in the virtues of sharing and being nice and fall into his make believe world. We’ll miss him.

Even though I’m 40, I remember watching Mr. Rogers when I was a little kid. An American icon.
Sounds like your new Noro project is getting you out of your doldrums. Can’t wait to see it!

Oh no, Anne! Being in the UK I don’t know if he’s on television there. He had the longest running childrens show on television - shown on PBS - and he just died. Here, check him out: http://pbskids.org/rogers/

I was very sad to hear it too, Jamie. DH was especially fond of Mr Rogers as he wasn’t allowed to watch TV as a child, except for PBS and only 1 hr a day. Mr Rogers was his whole TV experience for the first part of his life. The most consoling fact is that every show he did has been captured on tape… at least his spirit can live on and affect our kids too!
