I’m turning 30 today.
uh.
The thing is, people age and mature at different paces, so really, the change to “30″ shouldn’t be that significant. However, as humans, I think we all need a way of tracking mile stones and today is a big one for me. A great big rock in the middle of my road.
I know they say that this period of your life is one where you finally “find” yourself and come into your own, so I concede that on that level, I’m looking forward to the sense of being “adult”. On the other hand, I had a good wild stint in my 20s and I’m having a hard time giving them up.
Everything can be boiled down to the numbers:
I’ve lived in 17 different houses and moved across country once.
I had 3 serious relationships with 3 wonderful men.
I lived with, at various times, 10 cats, 3 dogs and a fish (her name was Audrey).
I’ve had 6 different jobs.
Two different cars.
And 3 different hair colors.
I’ve smoked 40125 cigarettes (yikes, that one hurt).
Gained and lost and gained 40 pounds.
And sent one letter scathing to the president.
But, I digress. A new chapter is about to begin with this decade and here’s the first entry, on everything that really is significant. I’m getting married this spring to the most wonderful man I’ve ever known. We’ve just bought our first home. And I know how to knit. Now I’ll see where that takes me.
