Kenny takes center stage

Bob and I made a big life decision a couple weeks ago. We adopted a little boy. He’s a good little boy. He generally poohs outside and has only marked on the doorway to the hall twice. He’s 11 months old and has a bucket full of energy and the energy of 5 others just like him. He sleeps well in his crate if we put a towel over it to shut out all the street lights. And he listens very well when you tell him gently, “no bites”. As short as his legs are, he can run 30 to 40 miles per hour (at least!) and he loves to wear sweaters. The latter making him a perfect little buddy for me, of course. Everyone, meet Kenny.

Rowan 36 - I’ve been out of the loop!

I owe you all a summary of where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to as I’ve fallen off the face of the blogging world (I even got kicked off the knitting bloggers ring). I actually have been knitting, quite a bit. I’ll follow up in posts to come. But, I think I can say that I’ve rested enough, and now I’m back, longing to share again. Should be posting more regularly!

You don’t notice the flashes from the many cameras pointed at you all night and when you’re saying your vows, it’s like there’s no one else in the room but the two of you. Everything else fades to black. What I do remember, however, is being really happy, surrounded by most wonderful family and friends in the world. And standing next to the man of my dreams.

Ode to my Mother and her level head

Wedding planning is hard. I’ve found myself completely caught up in the “have-tos”: You have to have someone do your flowers; you have to have a DJ; you have to have your invitations printed professionally; you have to have a 5 tier cake with the works. I’ve been so caught up in it that I forgot that Bob and I are getting married; forgot that was the point.

It didn’t start out this way - I had always planned on having a somewhat unconventional ceremony and reception. But you start talking to vendors and mention that you plan on doing the flowers yourself and they give you a look like, oh poor dear and you begin to wonder if you really know what you’re doing. After all, these people have put on thousands of weddings. They must know best.

They do not.
